Why is Canada such a laggard in removing COVID testing at borders? Absolutely pointless for short trips across the border. Canada Canada's CPHO and minister Jean-Yves Duclos stop this barrier NOW and let the tourism sector get back to work. #bordertesting

Thanks Mayor Drew Dilkens for committing to re-double efforts. I truly hope you and the other border mayors are not continually ignored the way everyone else seems to be. The silence from Ottawa on this is quite deafening. Justin Trudeau Irek Kusmierczyk Mayor Mike Bradley

Global News Toronto Harping on extra curriculars again I see. I find it comical how this man continues to weigh in on the part of education that isn’t ministry funded. At all. Zero. Buddy, what are you bringing to the table to improve education? Focus on your portfolio please and thanks.

You can attack the arts, but we’ll still need them. You can defund the arts, but we’ll still need them. You can peddle misconceptions about the arts, but we’ll still need them. You can say the arts aren’t important, but we’ll still need them. We’ll always need the arts. Always.

Music enriches. Music nourishes. Music energises. Music comforts. Music cradles. Music reflects. Music remembers. Music dreams. Music awakens. Music calms. Music excites. Music inspires. Music connects. Music expresses. Music entertains. Whatever it does, music is needed.

Important moments in schools are accompanied by music. Important moments in families are accompanied by music. Important moments in society are accompanied by music. Important moments in life are accompanied by music. Music is important, and it always accompanies important.

Music isn’t there to provide a planning period. It isn’t there to fill a gap. It isn’t there to tick a box. It isn’t there to be provided on an adhoc basis. Music is there - important and needed. Music is an irreplaceable and core component of a holistic and meaningful education.

The more challenging the world around them becomes, the more important music becomes in our schools. The more challenging education becomes, the more important music becomes in our schools. The more challenging their lives become, the more important music becomes in our schools.

Life can be tough, but music makes it less so. Life can be lonely, but music makes it less so. Life can be uncertain, but music makes it less so. Life can be filled with sadness, but music makes it less so. The importance of music to our lives simply cannot be overstated.

Young people want to express themselves - music does that. Young people want to form friendships - music does that. Young people want to be challenged - music does that. Young people want to succeed at something - music does that. Young people want to have fun - music does that.

The many wonderful things that are considered ‘extra’ in our schools are often more fundamental to the development of young people than those things that are considered ‘core’. We need to educate the whole child, and that involves music and all of the performing arts.

Not every young person we teach goes on to study music. Not every young person we teach goes on to make a living from music. That’s ok. Every young person we teach takes music with them into life after school. Having music in your life is a priceless gift of immeasurable benefit.

If someone is struggling academically, they should learn a musical instrument. If someone is struggling socially, they should learn a musical instrument. If someone is struggling with their health and wellbeing, they should learn a musical instrument. Music is often the answer.
