/ ok hcs i thought about while talking with linn - morty is from kanto, lavender town to be more precise. he traveled to johto because his hometown doesn't have importance as touristic interest, his parents still live there. - he is mr. fuji's grandson. his dad is fuji's son.

/ he tried to get a gym in lavender, but without success. and then, after he traveled in johto, team rocket sooner invaded lavender town to kill the cubone and sell their skulls and this makes morty still angry on himself, because he could've been there to protect them
