I've enhanced this autochrome of a young Senegalese Infantryman named Dia Bagou. During the Great War he served in the French Colonial Forces & was photographed here in colour by Paul Castelnau, on Sunday 10th June 1917, during his time at Haut-Rhin on the French/German border.

Came to a wild realisation. When mud larking or digging through 19th century tip, you'll find army of discarded single use tobacco clay pipes. Currently accumulating rubbish are, disposable plastic vapes.
