2022 marks the 20th year of MIST! Join us on a walk through MIIST history over these coming weeks as we celebrate 20 years of inspiration, creativity, and competition, beginning where it all began: Houston, TX.

We begin our walk through MISTory with Houston, where it all started (and where it all returns). Established in 2002 by Shazia Siddiqi, MIST quickly expanded all across North America, and Houston quickly became one of the largest regions to date.

Jumu’ah Mubarak! The tournaments have officially begun, and we wanted to share more theme-related inspiration to ponder as you all prepare :)

We’re one tournament in and we have many to go! Which tournament will you be attending?

The next region highlight in our trip through MISTory is the SOUTHSIDE TEAM, MIST Atlanta! Fun fact: Atlanta is responsible for not one, but TWO expansion regions (Florida and Nashville)!

There’s more to standing firm than simply having courage. One must also have conviction in one’s beliefs. How will you incorporate Conviction in your submissions this year?

We visited the southside team, but now it’s time to visit the northeast! Founded in 2005, MIST Boston was home to some of our most passionate competitors. Later rebranded to MIST New England, we’re now looking forward to the day we welcome back our northern family to MIST.

One of the best stories of Conviction from our tradition is the story of Asiya bint Muzahim, the wife of the Pharaoh. What other stories of conviction inspire you?

Our look back continues with the Empire State, MIST NY ! One of the most competitive regions across the continent, MIST New York actually started upstate before moving to the city!

SQUAAAADDDD! Our next region highlight is the region in the City of Brotherly Love, MIST Philly! You may be wondering about our upcoming Nationals announcement. It’s coming soon, promise! This highlight may or may not be partially related 👀

With much anticipation and excitement, we are pleased to officially announce the 2022 MIST Nationals Tournament will be held July 29-31 at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. Registration opens May 13.

Our next region highlight is the team in maroon, the group that repped Virginia, MIST Richmond! While currently an inactive region, RVA was most famous for sporting maroon clothes and cowboy hats at every Nationals!
