Britain emits 350 million tons of CO2 a year. In 2022, Chinese emissions increased by 540 million tons, to 12.4 billion. That means that China's annual increase alone is more than Britain's total emissions by far.

When British Defence Staff in the US learnt their American friend Kevin Billings was awarded an OBE in the King’s New Year's Honours list, they were thrilled. The appointment recognises many years strengthening relations between our two 🇬🇧-🇺🇸 Air Forces & is truly well deserved.

The Orders of the British Empire were created by King George V during World War One and are the second highest ranking honour to recognise extraordinary achievements by civilians and servicemen in non-combat roles.

Notably, Kevin was commended for initiating and leading the 🌍 Global Air Forces Climate Change Collaboration – a commitment by Air and Space Chiefs to work together to reduce dependency on fossil fuels.

Kevin is an honourary Royal Air Force Group Captain and one of three 🇺🇸 American members of the 601 (County of London) Squadron. He was also pivotal in establishing the Billy Fiske Foundation – a charity borne out of UK-US military friendship.

I am immensely proud to have presented Gen SA Luca Goretti with the Global Air Forces Climate Change Collaboration Trophy (now named the Gen SA Goretti Trophy for his personal efforts) for the Aeronautica Militare’s outstanding contribution in the field of Climate Change & Sustainability.
