Got a call last night. Daughter of one of my best friends had died. She was in her mid 20s. She had been expecting a baby but lost it. There were complications. This issue of black women dying at accelerated rates from pregnancy and childbirth has just been made real to me.

All 3 of our children are up. It’s 3:56 am.

I looked at my kids and said “it’s happening!” Thank you for caring and sharing your time with me. I am grateful.

The opportunities for innovation around maternal health are long overdue. We can do this 💪🏿
