We don’t want financial donations, we don’t want alternative funding streams, we don’t want charity and we don’t want volunteers doing work that should be done by Library Workers. Libraries are a statutory service and should be properly funded. #savelibraries

It's publication day, so I'm going to retweet this thread about the inspiration behind 'Small Bomb at Dimperley' & then I'm going to go to the library & bloody GET ON with the next one. Writing is hard, but it's SO much easier than self-promotion. Thank you for your tolerance ❤️

This piece by Jack Seale reads as if he doesn’t know that Slow Horses is based on a brilliant series of books by Mick Herron. He attributes decisions to the (albeit excellent) show-runners, rather than to Herron theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/a…

“I’ve seen these guys help people who don’t speak English print off a form for a visa ... Then they’ll patiently help someone who’s homeless. Then they’ll help me with my inquiry about a book, * they’ll know all about it. And they’re grossly underpaid.” theguardian.com/books/article/…

On BBC Radio 4 Today Richard Ovenden calls on Govt to address 'critical' issues in #Libraries. "Responsibility is held by Govt to provide a comprehensive & efficient library service" - service needs to be more 'joined up' - an "infrastructure for democracy" From 02:23 bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

We could make a substantial, undisruptive reform to the Lords at a stroke. Remove the titles. It would remove the motivation for grifters who want to be paid for adding Ruritanian Cognomens to company notepaper. But it would change nothing worthwhile.
