Had my last day at school today and I got a text that a Hawfinch was at Gravesend Promenade this AM, I rushed out of school down the road 4 hours later and looked around and I had this stunning bird drop in with some Greenfinches and it stayed with a tit flock for half an hour.

Some good frosty birding last weekend, Stonechat and Green Woodpecker from Richmond Park, and Red-crested Pochard and Shelduck from Regent’s Park. Apparently the Shelduck is wild, somehow!

First signs of spring on patch at the moment, with good Mediterranean Gull passage (good count of 16 one day). Also good to see 2 Great White Egrets together, Mandarin, Goosanders and a very regular Green Sandpiper.

Turns out the Harrier I saw at Brews Bridge yesterday was actually a Northern Harrier, from North America. Thanks to Cian Cardiff for confirming the sighting. BirdWatch Ireland BirdGuides The IRBC #BirdsSeenIn2025 #BirdsOfTwitter #photography #birdphotography #birding
