We invite Florida legislators to visit with those, like Dorian, who have egregious sentences under the #PRR law! Forget “visit a prison,” instead #visitaperson…Why Life Without Parole Is on the Rise | The Marshall Project themarshallproject.org/2023/03/16/lif…

Thelmecia McCoy was given a 1 year/1 day prison sentence for petit theft (3rd conviction). Within 3 years of release she was charged with robbery (no gun/DW) and was sentenced to 16 years under Florida’s #PRR.

Damian Tukes was sentenced to 4 years of prison as a youthful offender for burglary/grand theft committed at age 16 & was released in 2001. In 2002, at the age of 21, he was given life under FL's #PRR law for armed robbery.

New Family Story at our website! Read about Damian Tukes whose prior #PRR qualifying prison sentence was as a youthful offender for offenses he committed when he was just 16, then given LIFE for robbery at age 21 solely because of that ONE prior sentence. prrfam.org/family-stories/

Damian Tukes & Dorian Mackeroy, both w/only 1 prior prison sent., both as children (14 & 16) for 4 yrs each, both sentenced to LIFE, both for no physical harm robberies, both now incarcerated over 20 yrs. What is the public safety benefit of keeping them in prison any longer?

In 2021, LE agencies were to convert to the IBRS for reporting crime data. In 2021, only 24 of the approximately 400 Florida agencies reported, 27 in 2022. Ron DeSantis "50 year low" comment recently is comical since Florida's crime data will be extremely skewed for years.

Excellent interview from We H.E.A.R.T.❤Florida re: Florida’s felony murder rule, where you can get LWOP for not harming anyone. Doug is incredibly knowledgeable & presents a bipartisan bill that amends FMR for lesser participants. Please take a moment to listen! open.spotify.com/episode/0AUJSY…

Please remember those incarcerated with no ability to get relief during this severe heat! Why can't those incarcerated shower during the day? It is a minor thing to provide some relief, especially after being out at Rec or working Florida Department of Corrections #cookingthemtodeath

Watch this important documentary short about Florida’s egregious #PRR law! Mark Jones received a life sentence for physically harming no one, but simply for being released from prison w/in 3 years where he had been for grand theft. pbs.org/wgbh/frontline…
