Busy day today, but as promised here's your #BotanicGardenofTwitter plant for the day: Commidendrum rugosum, only found on the island of St. Helena. It used to be one of the most numerous trees covering the island, but is now critically endangered due to logging

During lockdown #COVID19, horticulturists all over the world are again showing their commitment and passion for their work. Living collections in botanic gardens are being looked after in very difficult circumstances by these unsung heroes #thankyou

Today on #BotanicGardenofTwitter it's our beautiful planters that would have greeted visitors at the front gate, looking gorgeous in full flower! 🀩 The red tulips are 'Apricot Foxx' and the lilac bulbs are an Ipheon (I can't find a label though!)

Marsh marigold, reassuringly in its regular spot. Plants can be old friends: I come looking for this clump and its golden smiles every spring. If it was ever not here, I’d be devastated. #wildhowardian

Just a year after they germinated our Cwm Idwal Saxifraga cespitosa are flowering for the first time and I am pollinating them like mad (with a paint brush). Only 7 plants left in the wild in Wales so let's hope these set lots if seed! - that's my little finger nail BTW.

I was 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Gardd Cymru 🌿 Garden of Wales today and the Great Glass House looks absolutely stunning! It’s so sad our visitors cannot see it at the moment. We are so looking forward to welcoming everyone back when it is safe to do so.

This is the bud breaking on a cutting of Cotoneaster cambricus. Only 6 individuals remained in the wild until quite recently. We have been working with a consortium of organisations on increasing propagation success for this #CriticallyEndangered species.

Two exciting things from today... I had my first proper go at arranging flowers (using florist tape) and it gave me such a buzz, I can't wait to learn more! And #2, I spotted yellow rattle seedlings popping up in the… instagram.com/p/B_fdhybgUm-/…

This evening we took our daily exercise from the nursery to see how #CriticallyEndangered Sorbus arvonensis had faired over the winter. It looked beautiful against the bright blue skies but there were a few that had succumbed to the sea πŸ˜”

For today's BGANZ #PlantChallenge I am talking about a plant that became #extinct in #Wales but still has hope as a Welsh native through #Exsitu cultivation.
