Reported scrapping of the HS2 extension to Manchester is a terrible idea. Longer term thinking is required by this Government. At TRG we have always maintained that investment in U.K. infrastructure is one of the surest ways of delivering future economic growth.

Big transitions rely on a degree of consensus to stop yo-yo politics The UK is almost unique in having a climate consensus, in part due to political leadership. Sacrificing that for what polling suggests will be negligible or negative political gain seems foolhardy.
