Meanwhile this recently finished block in central London sits completely empty. All units fully appointed with kitchens etc. Presumably because it's not financially viable enough for the landowner to actually let people live in them. It's a disgrace. #HousingCrisis #Homelessness

Waltham Forest have suppressed demand for driven trips by reducing the capacity in their motor vehicle network based on simple #TravelDemandManagement i.e. demand for short driven trips is *highly elastic*. #NotRocketScience

Bin + unnecessary sign + comms box = almost a quarter of the possible footway width. This is at a busy junction about 5mins away from the city centre train station. Why isn't the sign at least parallel to the bin? Details matter...

Behaviour change measures such as cycle skills training are invaluable. But without first building the infrastructure to match and make those journeys feel safe, it can be a complete waste of resources

Transport should never just be reduced down to the A to B. There's always more to it than that and the whole journey experience is just as important as the destination.

This is what #LondonLovesCycling looked like for me today. First time on a Pedal Me for my niece on our way to the theatre this afternoon. She was a little unsure at first but was joyful and elated by the end of the ride

I'm at the London launch event for Circular Economy Week this morning. Genuinely fascinating to learn about how we can all take action to move away from the "take-make-throw" linear model towards a more sustainable, circular system of re-using & re-purposing resources #CEweek2024

I found out today that new build development isn't subject to VAT, whereas retrofit and refurbishment pay the standard 20%!!! If we want to start making real progress on emissions & climate change, surely reversing these kind of perverse tax incentives is an obvious quick win...

Our analysis shows boroughs in the capital will be left with a £700m funding gap next year. As our chair Claire Holland told BBC London, "we have the most dire situation for local government finances that I think we’ve ever faced." 🔽
