WalesOnline 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Welsh Labour support £500 million a year in fees for students studying outside Wales - essentially financing unis outside Wales, whilst unis in Wales and their local economies suffer but won't invest in what is uniquely Welsh and supports Wales cultural economy.

St Winefride’s Chapel and Holy Well . Not a but a holy well that is said to have sprung up from the spot where the C7th martyr St Winefrid was brought back to life by St Beuno. The chapel set into the hillside above the spring dates from the late C15th.

After scrambling around an overgrown churchyard surrounding an abandoned church, we found St Canna's Chair/Stone!

Henllan Church would make a prime site in Carmarthenshire.

A holy well is under the church too.

Ffynnon Dyfnog at Llanrhaedr-yng-Nghinmeirch. Quite the most beautiful holy well. Restored to glory by the Friends of st Dyfnog's Well. The chill waters are said to heal scab, itchs, the pox, deafness and dumbness. It certainly cures the blues. Visit Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Today is the feast day of St Chad, the patron saint of Lichfield, who died on this day in 672. On the outskirts of the city is a well, associated with the sacred spring where he was said to stand on a stone and pray. In recent years, the tradition of well dressing has restarted.

Ffynnon Aelrhiw holy well at Rhiw in North Wales. In the medieval period and maybe earlier, people visited such wells because they believed the water had a healing effect. This holy well was one of the final stopping off places on the pilgrim’s route to Bardsey Island.

This is the crypt of the Holy Cross Church in Dalby, Sweden. It was built in ca 1060s in then Medieval Denmark, adjacent to a King's Manor and housed a Bishop, competing with a Bishop in nearby Lund for supremacy. To the right you can see a well/spring, possibly used for baptisms

🌳 Legend speaks of the Blessed Virgin Mary's statue miraculously appearing in an oak tree near Ffynnon Fair. Resisting all attempts to be removed, it finally yielded when a chapel was built on Cefn Penrhys.
