Hard to choose from the list but my 4th & final NUI Seanad vote is going to Green Party Ireland candidate Cllr Eva Dowling. More so than ever we need voices in the Oireachtas to promote science & evidence based policies + environmentalism. Dara Kilmartin & Alice-Mary Higgins also up there. #se25

A little side project, the Irish Election Manifesto Archive, also has every Programme for Government since 1989. I've just uploaded the new draft Programme for Government between Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and some independents. All here: pidgeon.ie/manifestos/pfg…

Huge congratulations to councillor Cllr Eva Dowling on her fantastic result in the #NUI #Seanad election today - trebling the vote and coming in 4th place is a testament to her campaign focused on promoting equality and protecting nature.

Covering this today I wish I could say the racism Hazel has received was shocking, but it sadly isn’t. Any post mentioning her inevitably draws it. It’s 31 votes in it, out of nearly 18,000, she is well within her rights to request a recount, put your phone down for 5 minutes.

Congratulations to Malcolm Noonan on his election to the Seanad Agricultural Panel. To top the poll is a huge achievement that highlights the importance and value in your work as Ireland’s first Minister for Nature.

Commiserations to Hazel Chu whose recount today did not go in her favour. To the naysayers who say she’s not wanted in Irish politics, she came fourth place in a hugely competitive race. It was extremely tight. She’ll live to fight another day.

Commiserations to Cllr Hazel Chu, who very narrowly missed out on taking a seat in the #Trinity #Seanad panel election today after a recount. With Ossian Smyth, Greens in the race picked up 16% of the vote - by far the party's highest yet.

Say hello to your Green Team in the Oireachtas! Today, Malcolm Noonan has been elected to Seanad Éireann on the Agricultural Panel, topping the poll and being elected on the first count, no less! Together, we will work to bring strong green representation to the Oireachtas 🌿

Making history for the second time. In 2020 I was the first Traveller in the Oireachtas. Today, I become the first Traveller elected to the Oireachtas. It’s not often you get to make history twice, but I am honoured to be elected to the 27th Seanad. 1/2

Except it wasn't Leo's idea. The Green Party had been calling for this bank holiday for years, and took the opportunity in government to push it through.

Trump’s dystopian plan for #Gaza is nothing short of ethnic cleansing. It breaches all forms of international law and must be opposed by Ireland.

Third level students and their families deserve better than false promises. This government should scrap the €1,000 hike in fees without delay, so that students can prepare and budget for the academic term ahead.

📢🌳🚶🚲 Have your say on DLR Connector! DLR Connector would see 6km of new segregated cycle lanes and walking facilities and an upgraded public realm. I really like it, but the Council want to hear what you think about it: evadowling.ie/dlrconnector Consultation closes July 15

Absolutely shameful that students and their families still have no clarity on cost of fees for 25/26 academic year rte.ie/news/2025/0709…

🏗️ 👷👷‍♀️ Who believes we need 30,000 fewer skilled construction workers than already envisaged? The government has scaled down its target from 80,000 new skilled construction workers to 50,000 in the National Development Plan (NDP) review
