Great news! The RATs provided to ACT Public Schools schools are one of the few brands that have been able to show effectiveness in detecting omicron according to the TGA. Also they don’t require any nose shoving 🙏

The ACT affirmative consent laws will deliver systemic reform to assist survivors of sexual violence to get the justice they deserve. 🙏 To quote Saxon Mullins, this is an acknowledgement that we are all responsible to seek enthusiastic consent. bit.ly/3guj3QA

We stand with women, people with disabilities, LGBTIQ+ people, people of faith, particularly minority faiths, and community organisations across Australia to call on our parliament to reject the #ReligiousDiscriminationBill and ensure our laws protect all of us, equally 🌈

Language is important. In response to George’s advocacy, the ACT will change the name of the offence of ‘sexual relationship with child or young person under special care’ to ‘persistent sexual abuse of child or young person under special care’. canberratimes.com.au/story/7612221/…

Community sector organisations are already doing it tough. Really sad to hear that Lifeline Canberra bookfair and Rotaract farmers market have been disrupted by people who do not share the values of the Canberra community - caring about others through vaccines and covid safety.

During lectures, I switched from asking "does anyone have a question before I move on?" to telling "someone ask me a question before I move on" and it is so simple but SUCH a game changer. #AcademicTwitter

Let me tell you a story about the Morrison government’s cynical attempt to bully and silence charities that work with — and advocate on behalf of - the most vulnerable in our society. Me today ⁦The Saturday Paper⁩ thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/politics/…

This is happening in the legal sector. At least three women have been harmed while they should be flourishing. Clients have been denied their expertise. Being free of racial discrimination is too low a bar. We need to be culturally safe and accountable to our staff and clients.

There’s massive discrepancy btwn incidence of sexual harassment + assault & formal complaint. Why? Because the systems are still the same despite rhetoric & it’s victim/survivors who suffer the personal costs & risks. Thanks Miriam Webber for highlighting tinyurl.com/n4wzkw9j

15 months after being passed by Parliament, the Termination of Pregnancy Act 2021 becomes law in South Australia today. The laws are a massive win for reproductive rights and will support more equitable access to abortion care across the state. #SAparli hrlc.org.au/news/2022/7/7/…

I assume Louise Milligan’s speech reflected the views in her book Witness. It challenges aspects of the current system and suggests possible changes. Lawyers shld at least read it and seriously consider the points she makes.
