Today I went INSIDE the 15th century clock tower in #Venice, which was operated by a timekeeper for 500 years!

Amazing to see the mechanics operating the actual time keeping, plus the astronomical clock, the Moors on the top and the “digital” clock #venice

The world’s first “digital” clock on the clock tower of #venice. Roman numerals show the hour, but it got too much for the minutes to fit so they used regular numbers

At the top of the clock tower in #Venice are these massive statues which bang the bell every hour with their hammers
