Just squished down an Abstract submission to 150 words for a University Conference on (well of course I’m doing it on WRAF/WAAF/WRAF) what did anyone think I’d be talking about? ✈️ A small victory before lunch. Thanks OldRailwayAccidents

Another (perhaps less known) record, from American pioneer aviatrix Amelia Earhart. She was the first woman to fly an autogyro, in December 1930. A little later, in April 1931 and flying this Pitcairn PCA-2, she attained an early altitude record for a rotorcraft...18,415 feet!

The @R34Airship account has been tweeting all day on the centenary of the final 24 hours of HM Airship R.34, leading towards her sad and premature demise overnight between 27th and 28th January 1921. See his account there and on #R34100

#OTD in 1819: An early-type balloon crashes in Paris (France), killing pioneer aviatrix Sophie Blanchard. On a display at Tivoli Gardens she threw fireworks from her hydrogen-filled balloon, which caught fire and crashed. She was the first ever recorded female aviation fatality.

Ian Dunt Wait there’s some hope Liz Truss today spoke to Ukraine's President Zelensky about the ongoing crisis. Zelensky promised to provide all the assistance he could.

The cleverest thing that Keir Starmer could do right now is to commit to proportional representation and a full review of our constitutional arrangements. This must never ever be allowed to happen again.
