Nothing to see here, just the Head of Workforce for NHS England using an inaccurate, one-sided & context-free Times piece to double down on the insinuation that the only issue with PAs in the NHS is ‘online toxicity’ from a small number of rogue doctors. You must know, Navina,

Co-ordinated misinformation by NHSE, no doubt supported by GMC etc. That's how much of a mess UK medicine is now Wes Streeting & what you reside over. The more I see of this, the more I know the #LengReview will be pre-determined, just as the tweets today have been coordinated

This is shocking. The NHS is to be allowed to hire physician associates (PA’s) from Ghana, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, despite concerns over the quality of their training telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/02/0…

"That's one of the most damning things I've ever read!" LBC listener Peter tells Matthew Wright there's 'no role whatsoever' in the NHS for physician associates.

‘This year there will be qualified doctors without a job.’ ‘We’re seeing GPs driving Uber now.’ Caller Dave is dismayed by the continued expansion of physician associates when places for doctors are shrinking.

Hi GMC, how can you have an entire document called “Good Medical Practice” but at the same time are unable to define what medical practice actually is? Please clarify.

The General Medical Council tasked with regulating medicine can not, and apparently does not need to, define 'practicing medicine' in order to carry out its duties in regulating the practice of medicine. There is no commentary I can give on this absurdity.

A recent rapid review by Prof Greenhalgh (Trisha Greenhalgh) critically examines the evidence supporting MAPs in the NHS. Although awaiting peer review, it is comprehensive in nature and her expertise lends a huge contribution to the ongoing discourse. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

Pleased you want to hear from resident doctors as the first step. But who are these “others with an interest in postgraduate medical training”? 🤔 As with yesterday’s “agility” and “flexibility” tones regarding this review, my trade unionist’s innate cynicism is flaring… 🚨

Claire M Dee 💙 Hinesh The BMA James Steen Emma Runswick 🏳️‍🌈 The “collusion” in the PA experiment has been extensive; it’s awfully inconvenient that @theBMA & thousands of doctors have called this out, never popular with those in power. The evidence suggests we’re upholding our duty to patient safety. That’s my compass & I hope it’s yours.

Doctors' leaders say the NHS is 'gambling' with patient safety by using staff who are not doctors in frontline roles and without the knowledge of patients. Physician and Anasthesia Associates are healthcare professionals used to support doctors, but they can work unsupervised.

Dr Robert Laurenson (@roblaurensond4p) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The GMC says it has no statutory duty to protect patients. Without legal duty there is no incentive to protect patients. The GMC is strangling doctors with regulation and facilitating their substitution with Physician Associates. The GMC, your regulator, is creating the
