On our Seabirds-and-Seals - The Original Noss Boat Tours late afternoon tour yesterday, we were so lucky to experience sightings of the #orcas just North of #Noss #Shetland, a truly magical experience greatly enjoyed by all onboard #TheNossBoat

It’s the 10th of August and there are still Puffins on the cliffs at Sumburgh Head! In these breezy conditions, they’re having a job to land in the area known as the ‘chute’. We’ve also seen Puffins sheltering on the east side, near the model Orca. Happy Weekend Viewing!

Red-necked Phalaropes are famous for their role-reversal where the male incubates the eggs and cares for the young. Here's a very, very rare encounter from one of our @shetlandwild tours in July 2024 - a male with one of his three chicks swimming out in the open on a roadside

Scottish-Icelandic bull Orca known as 'Hulk' here in Scotland and 'Supreme' in Iceland. Suitable names on both counts. This huge adult male is pretty much always in association with his fellow wing-man (or maybe 'fin-man'), 'Nott'. Both spend the winter in Iceland and the summer

This will be the last Puffin photo we take this year. We’re still seeing a handful of Puffins on the water, but they’re now too distant to photograph. We’ve loved sharing our summer with them, and we’ll continue to share highlights from the Puffin season here.

Pink-barred Sallow in our Shetland garden today. Amazing colours that become a cryptic camouflage against the yellowing leaves of autumn.
