Probably just as well that the idea of making Paula Vennells Bishop of London (was that one of Justin Welby’s ideas?) didn’t come to fruition - as she would now be in good position to move to Lambeth Palace!

World has gone bonkers. Just reading instruction booklet (1st time for everything) for bread maker. (1) guarantee does not apply if used in a farmhouse (not good year for farmers 1st IHT &now this) & (2)if used at altitude of >4000m - so can’t make bread on top of Mont Blanc.

To those of you who fast in Lent, don’t forget that to do so on the feast day of a saint would be disrespectful to the memory of said saint. With research it is possible to find a saints day for most days of lent. Today is feast of St Kyneburgha (thank you Simon Knott ) .

Lent is often perceived to be a time of hair shirts, penance, and fasting. But what a joy it is to sing Compline (Plainsong) every Thursday during lent at St Catherine’s Ludham in Norfolk . The Prayer Book Society

I never thought I would see a better showman live than Freddie Mercury and Queen . But tonight at age 75 Bruce Springsteen has put on the best show I have ever seen. Wow!!

Not pension related for once. This is Toby having just been to the barbers. Looking very relaxed now that April and May have gone - he hates all those Ban Collie days.

As someone who adores numbers and cricket , it was fascinating, may, absolutely fascinating, to see that both the median and the mode score in England’s innings yesterday was 0.

Hello Sky Sports . Just to let you know that your commentators for the Kent v Sussex T20 are talking incessant utter drivel and are spoiling the coverage. Just shut up! Learn from the Benaud school of commentary.

Same for both sides Test Match Special but has not technology improved since introduction of ball tracking such that if it’s hitting on ball tracking it is out and we don’t need half a ball of margin of error

I am so pleased we now have 4 weeks in August devoid of boring Test cricket and replete with the outstanding format of the 100 - said no cricket fan.

Is English Cricket & Church of England run by the same people, who tell us what we want - 100 / T20 instead of Tests? Modern liturgy & music instead of BCP & English Hymnal? Attendances & interest at Tests and at Churches like St Bartholomew in London say these people are wrong

Yesterday at St Catherine’s Ludham in Norfolk we had a sung Evensong from BCP. Next Sunday we will be singing Mattins, from BCP, both for first time in over 12 months. Plus we introduced sung Compline every week in Lent, to be repeated this Advent. How’s that The Prayer Book Society ?
