Had a terrific time the other day working with the clarinet students at Oxford High. Wonderful to meet youngsters who are aspirational and enjoy a bit of hard work! The day ended with everyone tucking into Jean's amazing clarinet cake!

Had a wonderful day yesterday doing 2 recitals! Buck Fest with Selma and a lovely concert in Oxford with Sally Mears later. Thankfully there are large and enthusiastic audiences for such music making - culture if you like. And without it our very humanity begins to crumble.

First week of two delivering INSET days to wonderful teachers and at wonderful institutions. Been to Eltham College, Bedford Cooperatives, the music services of Northampton, Wolverhampton, Herefordshire and Gwent.

Another week of insets that included Camden and Haringey Music services and Radley College. It was an especial pleasure to meet up with Leonora Davies at Haringey. All in all, it was very inspiriting to find so many music teachers across the country in such buoyant mood.

So saddened to hear of the death of the wonderful Scott Mitchell. He'd been a great friend for many years and we worked together on many projects. Here he is playing the 1st mov of a little sonatina I wrote for him, which he used to play from time to time. youtu.be/aub6Qa86DBw
