First time teaching Superpower Relations since 2019. There’s a huge amount to take in over a short period of time. Hoping these one point of reference content sheets act as simple KO’s, homework infographics or posters to refer to in class. #historyteacher docs.google.com/file/d/1BzWxHT…

Among those murdered in the Holocaust were 20,000 Hungarian Jews, shot on the banks of the Danube, having been forced to remove their shoes. The shoes were deemed to hold value. Sculptor Gyula Pauer’s monument is composed of 60 pairs of shoes in iron. #HolocaustMemorialDay

Today, on Holocaust Memorial Day, I'm thinking about this little boy, the same age as my kids, proudly showing a flower to another child, outside a gas chamber at Auschwitz, where they were all murdered moments later. It is so important for us all to remember what happened.

What did we do to deserve all of this suffering and devastation?!! #Homs, #Syria... Even years after the strikes ended, the pictures of desolation attest to the evil done by #Russia and #Assad.

There's never been a more pressing need to study Ukraine's history - a history that teaches us about resistance to imperialism and defiance in the face of oppression. One year ago, Russia's bombing of the Kramatorsk train station deeply shocked the world. It was a brutal attack on innocent civilians, including children, fleeing amid fears of another Russian onslaught against their homes. Putin must be held accountable for his crimes.

Interesting fact: Ukraine was a founding member of the UN in 1945. Neither China nor Russia were: China became a member in 1972 instead of Taiwan, Russia only in 1991, claiming to be the successor to the Soviet Union. let’s hope the Chinese ambassador knows diplomatic history!

Today, #Lavrov spoke on ‘effective multilateralism'. We don’t need lessons from Russia. Thousands dead in Ukraine & millions suffering globally. Multilateral institutions like the #UNSC should evolve. Respect for the Charter, sovereignty & territorial integrity must remain.
