We got the whole gang together (actually a few gangs) for a 9 hour power session to finish off our new team-written review paper on #AI for evolutionary morphology. 50 pages and 6 case studies later, the preprint is out! doi.org/10.32942/X2S315. Website w/ links to tools up soon!

Look! A job opportunity! I’m hiring a research technician in my lab to work on CT scanning and segmentation of birds and mammals. Apply now if you love vertebrate anatomy: ucl.ac.uk/work-at-ucl/se…. we’ll also be hiring a Postdoc on the project soon.

🐟 Curious about what's in a fish's belly? Our paper, "Linking anatomical and histological traits of the digestive tract to resource consumption and assimilation of omnivorous tetra fishes," is now live in Ecology and Evolution. Check here: doi.org/10.1002/ece3.1… #fishteam ASIH

Posted it twice… let’s make it thrice ;). Come read about some whacky fishes. Although Zeiformes may only be half a weird as Siluriformes, they are highly diverse and we still know very little about their evolutionary history and ecomorphology.

I realized I haven’t had the chance to properly celebrate Moritz Lürig joining the lab at the beginning of the year. But now Moritz has his first paper in the lab out in Ecology Letters. And it is a fun one. Go check it out: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Have you ever wondered what factors shape the processes of morphological evolution? And how might innovations arise and contribute to patterns of diversification? Our new paper uses 3D CT scans of tetraodontiform fishes to explore these questions. doi.org/10.1093/evolut… 1/15

I am SO PROUD to say that the indomitable @Alexuss_Symone 's 3rd ch. is OUT NOW at Evolution Letters! With me, Christopher Martinez , & Peter Wainwright, we find that a famous key innovation in feeding apparatus LIMITS functional diversification! doi.org/10.1093/evlett…

🚨Incredibly excited to share my new pub in collab w/ Christopher Martinez, Katherine Corn, PhD, + Peter Wainwright in Evolution Letters! Opposite of long-held predictions, we find that a pharyngeal jaw novelty restricts diversification of feeding motions + morphology! doi.org/10.1093/evlett…
