Promises to improve #nature are being broken by house builders. Across site visits, researchers found only 53% of ecological features mandated by planning conditions were actually present, dropping to just 34% when newly planted trees were excluded. newscientist.com/article/248008…

Developers are sitting on land to boost profits. This is a crisis that's holding up housebuilding. Ripping up nature protections won't solve this problem.

This afternoon, the Planning Bill enters the House of Lords. Within it is a proposal that would make it easier to destroy the woods, rivers and wildlife we all love - by weakening the laws that keep them safe. If Part 3 isn’t changed or scrapped, nature will pay the price. ⚠️

Thousands of homes across England are being built without community infrastructure, leaving families without access to playgrounds, schools, shops, doctors. Politicians bask in deregulation and housing targets, developers count profits. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

There ARE more planning permissions, BUT currently developers are building LESS. Market housing is just proving too expensive in a cost of living crisis. HOWEVER big developers want to keep the prices up, not build more and undermine their land-bank value & profits. BBC News (UK)

This is an excellent suggestion. πŸ‘ Well said Paul De Zylva The government’s recent rhetoric on nature, and especially about those who seek to protect it, is untrue, adversarial, and downright rude!

Hey Keir Starmer no one voted for you to kill wildlife and remove affordable housing which is what these Tories are asking you to do. You were voted to be different than the Conservatives. This is your chance to prove that by ignoring them. Save the bats! πŸ¦‡
