I take my schooling seriously, but my family will ALWAYS come first. I never stress about deadlines or papers just solely based on this mindset. Academia takes up a lot of time that we will never get back. Again I care about my schooling but about family more.

Someone needs to write their dissertation on Black and brown teachers attempting to practice conscious parenting in their own lives while still teaching in predominantly Black and brown schools. Because WHEW

It’s such a disheartening time for teachers in Texas. I come from a family of educators. Dad was a public school teacher for 44 years. I’m finishing up my 26th year. My sister is a public school teacher. I just don’t understand how in the great state of Texas we are CHOOSING TO

NOT fund public schools. TO NOT take care of our students. TO NOT adequately pay our teachers. Teachers show up everyday to SERVE our students. It shouldn’t matter who is in office. This is basic common sense. It makes me sad to know that our students and faculty are just

I’ve only been to AERA one time & never came back because I was so overwhelmed & felt so alone. But this year, #AERA2024 was amazing. I have to thank the Black scholars that welcomed me with open arms. You all made a HUGE difference in my experience. THIS is what we mean by DEI.
