Imagine if they spent £22 billion on restoring peat bogs, the oceans, forests (proven carbon capture), or on public transport, insulation, solar – literally anything but this, which is just playing into the hands of the fossil fuel bros and delaying the transition to green energy
Ed Miliband Carbon Capture and Storage is largely a folly and is in the wrong direction. It would have been much better to have focused on stopping burning stuff in the first instance & kept the £28bn green energy fund instead of paying £22bn to try & recapture what they’ve already burned.
What climate crisis! Burning the hills so a few can shoot grouse. Forget banning wood burning stoves Jim Fairlie MSP SNP ban this!

"We’ve looked from Mount Everest to the deep sea, from the poles to the equator. We’ve found microplastics everywhere." Richard Thompson, who first discovered microplastics 20 years ago, explains why we urgently need a global treaty on plastic pollution. e360.yale.edu/features/richa…

This is the sort of place your helium birthday balloons end up when you let them go, or worse still, in the oceans where there's a good chance they'll end up in the belly of a whale, a turtle or a seabird. Dispose of them responsibly, please! 🙏 National Trust for Scotland Marine Conservation Society
