The ā€œdisappointing majorityā€ narrative has really taken hold overnight. I’m already seeing people say, ā€œwell this fragile coalition means Labour won’t win in 2029.ā€ Right, but they did just win in 2024 and now they get to be the government for a bit? That’s the headline.

On Rishi Sunak’s speech: it’s very easy to be dignified & gracious after the fact. An example of actually impressive conduct / integrity is, say, John McCain defending Obama from mendacious smears with a month left of their campaign battle still to go. #GeneralElection2024

Having drafted the tweet "Lisa Nandy is a big fan of drag culture, she's got a Wigan address" I will be stepping away from Twitter for the foreseeable future.

I think the phrasing is honest - factual - and that this is a powerful signal to civil servants & NHS staff that they can be honest too. No more insufferable guff about 40 fake news hospitals etc. The NHS is in crisis. Patients are suffering & dying. This is a national emergency.
