Removing the safeguards from #MAiD will put Canada's most vulnerable populations at risk of further discrimination in the healthcare system. Gov't should focus on supporting people with a #disability to live with dignity.

“Why single out people with disabilities as the only nondying Canadians who can choose assisted suicide, as Bill C-7 proposes to do?” We urge gov’t to reconsider C-7 amendments that further marginalize people with disabilities in the healthcare system. bit.ly/39eGSbp

"We are pleased In the Chamber unanimously supported a motion calling on gov't to put in place #CanadaDisabilityBenefit ASAP. We support an early re-introduction of this legislation + look forward to working with all parties to get ppl w/ disabilities out of poverty."

"The nurses are caring for too many babies at one time and this results in frail, underweight infants not being able to even eat on time." My God.

“These babies have nowhere else to be cared for and we believe the situation has become so critical that deaths of infants may soon follow.” In Alberta. In 2024. Remember when Smith said she could “fix” healthcare in 90 days? It’s been almost 2 years. #abpoli #cdnpoli

Details of Canada Disability Benefit program unveiled in #Budget2024 - no benefit until July 2025 - Disability Tax Credit eligibility - maximum annual benefit $2,400 - covers just half of persons with disabilities in poverty

Inclusion Alberta (@inclusionab) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The $200/mo CDB announced in the budget is insufficient to lift Albertans with disabilities out of poverty. Not only is the amount of the benefit a major disappointment, but the decision to use the DTC as the eligibility criteria will block many from receiving it.
