“No one tells millionaires to be grateful for tax breaks. No one asks oil companies to be thankful for subsidies. But people with disabilities? They’re told to smile while the social safety net is exchanged for a trampoline with a hole in it.” People with disabilities are often

🧵Danielle Smith’s government let AISH recipients know they’ll be charged $200 for failure to apply for new Canada Disability Benefit so the UCP government can steal it. Required paperwork may cost between $200-$400. AISH is 1,901 per month, no extra money for this cost.

The UCP's next game is particularly cruel... The plan is to transition all AISH recipients to their new "But you can work a little" program and only after everyone is transitioned can those unable to work re-apply for AISH. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Starting in 2026, everyone on AISH will be reviewed. Most will be moved into ADAP — with $200 less a month. If you don't think this is right, please share! 💚

And while you go through the process to apply, make sure you also reach out to your MLA and push to have this CDB clawback reversed. Inclusion Alberta also has great resources to help you including talking points, template letters and handouts. See 👇 inclusionalberta.org/canada-disabil…

Minister, your call would actually mean something if you were not clawing back the benefit from those that qualify. As is, it sounds like you care more about "eliminating red tape" than you do about the people who could actually benefit from the extra $200. #ableg

Oh, did you think Cam Tait was done writing about Alberta clawing back money from AISH recipients? Silly duck. He's on a mission. edmontonsun.com/opinion/tait-n…

The UCP needs to immediately cancel their $200 cut to disability payments - which they’ve decided on in order to claw back a new federal support. A government that builds itself up on the backs of Albertans with severe disabilities has no shame and is not fit or capable to lead.

The Smith government's AISH upheaval, combined with cash clawback, is deeply traumatic to Alberta's most vulnerable people. Column. calgaryherald.com/opinion/column… #ableg #abgov #abpoli #cdnpoli #yyc #yeg

AISH is being replaced with ADAP. A program that cuts benefits, tightens rules, and reduces appeal rights. Disabled Albertans are being pushed into deeper poverty. 📢 Full breakdown + action steps before Sept 12 here ⬇️ zacharyweeks.ca/blog/alberta-d… Please share widely 💚 #Alberta

UCP’s clawback shows their lack of compassion for people that are already facing extreme challenges to live a life with equal opportunities as non disabled people. Individuals who are on AISH often struggle to pay for rent and necessities of life. calgaryherald.com/opinion/column…

The new benefits $1740 under the UCP’s ADAP program put disabled more than $4000 under Alberta government poverty income of $28,500 for a single person. #ableg #ScrapADAP
