Cutting ODA from 0.5% to 0.3% by 2027 is deeply shortsighted and doesn’t make anyone safer. The deep irony is that development money can prevent wars & is used to patch up the consequences of them, cutting this support is counterproductive and I urge the government to rethink.

This is unfortunate. Lammy self evidently not been able to protect the foreign office budget since only weeks ago urged the US not to cut its aid budget saying it would be a big strategic mistake. By cutting to 0.3% of GDP, the UK, once an aid superpower, joins Italy in the G7

For six weeks we’ve been delivering life-saving supplies to families & we still have medicine, tents and hygiene kits to go. We need Israeli authorities to allow unimpeded access. "We cannot take all hope away again from children in Gaza. They deserve more," Ahmad Alhendawi

NEW: Save the Children says it is worried more children with disabled parents will fall into poverty as a result of today’s welfare changes. 870,000 children live in families that receive Personal Independence Payments and 290,000 of these children are already in poverty.

.Keir Starmer keeps saying he wants to reduce child poverty. Evidence shows the most effective way to do this is to scrap the two-child limit. So far, Labour's decision to keep this policy in place has put 30,000 extra kids in poverty since they were elected last July. 1/2

I asked PM for his vision of foreign aid. Save the Children UK & Center for Global Development predict budget reductions will lead to 62 million fewer people supported in education, heath, SRHR, water & nutrition. What will UK aid stand for? Our thoughts are with all of those injured in this morning's attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue. Hate and division have no place in our society. We should all recognise - as Jo did - that we have more in common than that which divides us.
