Having read tons of food memoir, historically most of it has been the stuff of Eurocentric fantasty, ex. I moved to Europe to eat well/go to cooking school. It's changing, but slowly. And we have Michael W. Twitty, who won a Beard for his food memoir, which is anything but that.

Interesting piece on the use of field trials in PhD research. Perhaps part-time PhD's would help? Even working on a 20month long trial in a 3 year PhD with two cover crop periods was a challenge....but still learnt valuable lessons and new practical insights.
