Simply raising alcohol duties to reclaim the windfall profits would not be a targeted way of reclaiming it, as the products that increase in price under MUP would not be affected very much.

Jake explains that the most targeted way of reclaiming windfall profits would be to introduce a minimum unit tax, which would set a floor price for the amount alcohol is taxed. This very specifically targets the drinks that increase in profitability under MUP.

This is a fair point, considering well over 70% of alcohol consumed is bought from shops. We've become a nation of home drinkers, which has significantly contributed to the rise in chronic diseases like liver disease and alcohol-related cancers and heart disease.
