The Halifax Cycling Coalition Halifax Cycling, It's More Than Buses, Walk n Roll Hfx are calling on HRM Council to improve the design for the Windsor Street Exchange redevelopment -- to have more of a focus on pedestrian and cycling safety, and transit! Take a look:

Increasing capacity for vehicles at this key gateway intersection will have a catastrophic ripple effect, reducing demand for planned alternatives to driving including BRT, the Bedford Ferry (which already has low predicted ridership) and Park & Ride. news.novascotia.ca/en/2024/03/04/…

Joint action was taken by Halifax Cycling, It's More Than Buses & Walk n Roll Hfx to propose connected separated bike lanes, sidewalks & bus lanes. Staff rejected this due to the impact upon their solo objective, contrary to policy, to design for more vehicles.

@LandOfSticks Global Halifax In a joint statement from It's More Than Buses, Walk n Roll Hfx and Halifax Cycling, the groups said “failure is guaranteed” if #Halifax council adopts the new design, citing a lack of prioritization of walking, rolling, cycling and transit. #TowardsZero globalnews.ca/news/10570746/…

Of course, the real VIPs of the election aren't the candidates, it's the journalists and advocacy orgs that have asked tough questions throughout the election: Thanks to Adsum for Women & Children Ecology Action Centre (EAC) @LandOfSticks Halifax Cycling and Halifax Examiner for covering the election.
