Only days ago Rishi Sunak was saying maths education should be extended to 18 so more people enjoyed basic numeracy in this country. However, he is now arguing pay disputes can be solved by one-off payments to strikers and that shows he does not understand the maths of inflation.

Sigh. No-one thinks there’s an epidemic of young single professionals going to food banks. There are these things called children which you probably don’t want to bring up in a single room. And obviously lots of people earning far less than £30k

Health very strongly tracks wealth. Median incomes in the UK are well below the average of developed countries. For the poor (those at the 10th percentile) they are lower in the UK than Slovenia. Hence, our public health is well below average & our public services are in crisis.

My constituency of Liverpool Walton is the most deprived in England. It has not received a penny of the Levelling Up Fund. Of the 80 successful bids in England, only half are in the 100 most deprived areas. The Prime Minister's affluent constituency, however, received £19m.

So, Sunak’s got his 2nd police fine. Zahawi had to pay up £5M in tax & penalties to HMRC. Williamson had to resign for bullying. Raab is under investigation for mass bullying and Braverman is a fascistic menace who’s acted unlawfully in the treatment of asylum seekers. Going well

“Data-driven” decision: This affects a small number of people, so we won’t fix it. Values-driven decision: This excludes or harms a small number of otherwise disadvantaged people; that’s not ok, so we’ll fix it. The metrics you focus on are never neutral.

In the state of Missouri a 14-year old can carry an AR-15 in public but a pregnant woman in an abusive marriage cannot divorce her abusive husband. Please do go on about how this isn’t a war against women, won’t you. fox4kc.com/news/missouri-…

The Hester story is a test of journalism even more than it is of the Tory party. If the issue is allowed to fade away after days of shameful stonewalling & obfuscation by ministers, something truly disgusting will have moved into the heart of our government.

There is a general election on and only two of the five panellists are candidates. Absolutely ridiculous. The BBC gets harder and harder to defend.

Children, particularly but not exclusively those in the lowest income households, have been hit hardest over the last 14 years. That's why absolute child poverty is rising. It has to be a priority of the next government to change that.
