"It's a race against time to stop famine from escalating," - đź’™Rachael Maskell MP. It's important that #Sudan is a UK priority - using its' voice to influence partners and secure safe access for humanitarian aid to reach the most vulnerable.

Great to host an event at RUSI yesterday on the deadly cycle of hunger & conflict, with former CDS, General, Lord Richards, Air Marshall (Ret’d) Sir Graham Stacey, WFP UK Director Geraldine O’Callaghan & adviser on conflict and humanitarian issues, Donna Gavin. United Against Malnutrition & Hunger (UAMH)

Thank you @GrahamStacey12, General The Lord Richards, Geraldine O'Callaghan, the British Army 🇬🇧's Donna Gavin, and attendees for contributing insight, expertise and ideas at our event RUSI last night. With conflict-induced hunger destabilising the world, we must seek solutions.

Thank you United Against Malnutrition & Hunger (UAMH), Lord Jonny Oates & RUSI for the opportunity to discuss the link between conflict and #hunger. Since 2019 hunger has almost tripled, fuelled by a dramatic increase in conflict around the world. We need a long-term focus on conflict prevention.

#Conflict drives hunger, and hunger can fuel conflicts that threaten to reverse decades of development gains and global stability. WFP UK Director Geraldine O'Callaghan highlighted at RUSI United Against Malnutrition & Hunger (UAMH) 👇

Imagine life without water? 💧 Without rain there’s no harvest and families in #Yemen, like Ali’s, survive on just one or two meals a day. Watch to learn how Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office @UkinYemen and World Food Programme help support families ⬇️ Abda Sharif

Thanks David Lammy for highlighting the urgency of the crisis in #Sudan. Safe delivery of vital aid is a critical first step to expanding access and preventing famine. Sudan must not be forgotten.

WFP is pushing to reach all communities in isolated conflict zones in #Sudan. This week a WFP convoy reached North Darfur’s Zamzam camp for the first time since #famine was confirmed there. World Food Programme Deputy Executive Director Carl Skau updated BBC News (World) James Copnall⬇️

📢"We’re extremely worried about the situation in #Gaza. Over the past 6-8 weeks we've seen a dramatic deterioration." WFP's Carl Skau tells Yalda Hakim. World Food Programme urges the international community to do everything in its power to push for the delivery of life saving assistance.

Great to have World Food Programme Deputy Executive & Assistant Executive Directors in the UK for important discussions with Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and to update Parliamentarians & media on WFP's operations in #Gaza and #Sudan. The UK remains an important partner for WFP 🇬🇧 UK Rep Rome 🇬🇧 🇺🇳

London is also a key hub for international broadcasting. Thanks to BBC News (World), Sky News and The Economist for drawing attention to the crisis in #Sudan. World Food Programme is scaling up, with some 700 trucks of food currently on the road to 14 hunger hotspot locations. But more is needed.

Thanks to Wendy Morton MP for drawing attention to the humanitarian catastrophe in #Sudan. - More than 1 in 2 people struggle to eat every day - #Famine has been confirmed in North Darfur - The humanitarian needs are immense Without humanitarian assistance, hundreds of thousands

Everyone in #Gaza is hungry - World Food Programme food assistance is a lifeline. WFP is grateful for the important support from partners like Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

Thank you David Lammy for taking the time to travel to Chad to meet refugees fleeing conflict and the world’s largest humanitarian crisis - Sudan. “We cannot have a hierarchy of conflict with this conflict at the bottom.”

Jenny Chapman Thank you Jenny Chapman for your leadership—and for championing smart, strategic collaboration. Looking forward to continuing World Food Programme’s work with the UK to deliver impact at scale for the world’s most vulnerable.
