Brilliant by Chris Mullin. A depressing but important read Was George Osborne the worst chancellor ever? prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/62132…

Another day, another huge Tory waste of money. This time, reports @bigissue, it's offshore wind farms. No new ones have been green-lit this year; it's estimated consumers will lose out by £2bn. "The biggest disaster for clean energy policy in the last 8 yrs" - Greenpeace.

I remember the good old days before the war on motorists, when you could drive through classrooms and kids would have to jump out of the window and everyone had a laugh about it. Happy times.

A rather disparaging mention of The World Transformed conference "down the road" on BBC Radio 4 Today but it might actually be nice to at least hear about some of the ideas being discussed there as an alternative to more of the same...

Really enjoyed Carol Vorderman show on LBC this morning. Some great callers too, including the observation from one of them that the Tories have persuaded certain people to vote for them - not their natural constituency - through use of the culture wars. Divide and rule.

Enjoyed reading Otto English's review of the year in Byline Times in which we are reminded that Johnson watched YouTube videos to look for ways of curing the Coronavirus including blowing hot air up the nose and misled Parliament over 18 -18! - drunken events at Downing St.

This just says it all about this morally bankrupt regime. And if Sunak knew he was going to call Cameron back from Albania, he should not have let him go in the first place.

When Jeremy Hunt says he wants to keep things 'flexible for workers' on BBC Radio 4 Today he means flexible for bosses. Unions and what they do should be supported not constantly derided.

Can't tear myself away from this telling of Orwell's 1984 on BBC Radio 4 this morning. Gripping. Ignorance is Strength... How striking to hear that at this time.

I can't understand people who won't vote, because 'they're all the same' or 'it won't make any difference'. They are not, and even if you know the likely result, you are counted, and it's a privilege and still exciting moment when you put that cross on the ballot paper. #GE24

Thank you #GaryRichardson for so many years of listening pleasure on BBC Radio 4 Today. A wonderful radio voice, brilliant interviewer and droll wit, particularly where the racing tips were concerned. Will be much missed.

Rail co Govia has paid £82m in dividends since July 2023. This despite taking £218m in govt subsidy. So the UK tax payer is paying Govia's owners, who are part French. Come on The Labour Party Ireland make good on the manifesto and bring our railways back where they belong, in public ownership

Trump shows how the internet has turned politics into a grotesque form of performance art where only the super rich get to participate. The rest of us are helpless spectators.
