If they're going to do that, they need to accept first that shared ownership is NOT ownership and therefore is not a "foot on the ladder" (god, I hate that phrase.)

What they make up in pension savings by extending the pension age, they will pay out in NHS costs, for health conditions caused by working too hard for too long. They could just have a progressive taxation system based on wealth rather than income instead.

Shared ownership needs root and branch reform and this needs to apply to existing SO leases as well as future ones, but mulling over a few tweaks is the best we get.
