Honoured to be part of this study that furthers our understanding and gets us closer to potential treatments for #MND A cell-penetrant peptide blocking C9ORF72-repeat RNA nuclear export reduces the neurotoxic effects of dipeptide repeat proteins science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

30 years ago today the first cause of #ALS #MND was found by Prof Robert H Brown Jr and his team. Now we have a genetic therapy, Tofersen, that looks to have a dramatic effect in the 2% carrying this gene variant. A small step that shows ALS can be defeated with the right tools.

Fantastic first talk delivered by Laura about modelling MNS in astrocytes. Very cleaver fast track differentiation from fibroblasts to cells of interests 💨🧫

Some beautiful cells to brighten up your Saturday! Here we have some neuronal progenitor cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells, stained for Pax6 and Nestin (NPC markers).

Our embryoid bodies that we use for our cocultures are looking especially bright and green today! We should get beautiful motor neurons from these, which we will use to test different drugs to see if they can prevent the motor neurons from degenerating. #Cellfie #MND #MNDresearch
