Thanks to 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢 Isaac Bogoch. We need to hold off on the term elimination until the science changes. Universal infection control, early case detection, masking all important. But the goal is persistent low community spread for now. nationalpost.com/opinion/opinio…

"The need for rigor: Retractions can damage public trust" healthydebate.ca/2020/07/topic/… via Healthy Debate Me: "“Peer review isn’t perfect...” Ivan Oransky: Retractions “are a sign someone is paying attention. It’s when you deny that problems happen that you lose trust.”

To anyone still stuck on the 'Did you hear? <insert business here> is now requiring customers to wear masks' phase of this pandemic: My heart wants to simultaneously scream: 'We shouldn't need corporations to tell us to do the right thing' & 'What took them so f***ing long?'

This is horrible. Just when you think we have this barbaric product on the ropes in North America, a desperate South American senate approves it as an appropriate treatment for #COVID19. #stopMMS

Am I the only one who has genuine concerns that my infant's first words will be 'Lily No!' (I realize this is a very specific worry to have as a new parent with a frequently misbehaved pet)

2 months after Justin Trudeau promised Canadians that no worker would be forced to go to work sick to pay their bills, still *ZERO* provinces moved to legislate paid sick days. Workers need permanent, accessible and employer-paid sick days. #PaidSickLeaveSavesLives

I'm with Dave W., who has cystic fibrosis with immune compromise and a greatly reduced lung capacity, on these so-called 'medical exemption cards': "It's a load of crap. If anyone couldn't wear one, it would be me." cbc.ca/news/canada/to… via CBC Toronto #COVID19

My wife's out of her laser eye surgery with both peepers intact, our dog's biopsy came back negative for cancer and our infant daughter continues to be incorrigibly cheerful, playful and amazing. Life is good.

1. It's not the flu: This graph from a paper out today looking at excess mortality in England during the start of #Covid19 shows clearly this is on a whole different level than influenza. They show excess mortality of the past 5 flu seasons vs. Covid. Arrows, red lettering added.

Maybe New Brunswick should reconsider opening our borders to Quebec if they can’t do the most basic of tasks to limit the spread of COVID-19 in their own province. Bars are NOT an essential service.

Rep. John Lewis in 2019: "When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation ... to do something. Our children and their children will ask us, 'what did you do?' …. We have a mission and a mandate to be on the right side of history."
