For cartophiles here's Laura J Horsfall, PhD The UCL Institute of Health Informatics research on UK PM2.5 polluting wood-burning stoves with searchable map. Brighton, Dulwich & everywhere within paddle-boarding range of Padstow predictable strongholds but some surprises. Here's South London storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/9231a1…

Air pollution damages health. Domestic wood burning is a major contributor to air pollution (indoor/outdoor) in UK. University College,London, has mapped wood burning sources at fine geographic scale. This will help policymakers identify hotspots to target local interventions.

Hottest day so far = another Moderate ozone #airpollution day 🟠 Ozone rises through the day peaking around 6pm 📈. So lowest levels in the morning. awair-project.org for more. 🌟Thx Impact on Urban Health for funding this vital project 🙏. 🌟& Rosamund Adoo-KD CBE FBSA for inspiring🙏

Increase in homes with wood-burning stoves contributes to new air pollution hotspots #airpollution #woodburning theguardian.com/environment/20… by Gary Fuller

How do we tackle a problem like wood burning? A question that writers inc George Monbiot often consider. The policy pathway from Global Action Plan is one answer. By me for @theguardian.com. (A tech problem yesterday meant that some of you didn't see the new maps)

New World Health Organization (WHO) report on social determinants of health equity provides a much needed reminder to the global community that to improve health equity we must improve society, say @michaelmarmot and jessica allen bmj.com/content/389/bm…

Delighted to see work by Global Action Plan, supported by Impact on Urban Health, covered in The Guardian. Burning wood is a major source of air pollution, and devastates the health of burners and their neighbours: theguardian.com/environment/20…

The world is at a turning point in the fight for clean air. Air pollution is a major threat to our health, the environment, and the economy—but we have the power to change that. The goal? A 50% reduction in the health impacts of air pollution by 2040* breathelife2030.org/commit-clean-a…

🇬🇧➡️🌍 Interesting The Guardian article by Gary Fuller on the rise of wood burners in UK homes & new air pollution hotspots. This isn't just a UK issue! Our project explores how these localised pollution sources can exacerbate urban inequality globally. #AirPollution #UrbanHealth
