Pertinent editorial of conflicts between the fossil trade and conducting science stimulated by the important fossils of Shri rapax. Sadly, the distinctive skull was lost and is presumed to be in a private collection. tandfonline.com/doi/epdf/10.10… Utah Geological BLM Utah

35 years ago day SUE the T. rex 🦖 (FMNH PR 2081) was discovered by Sue Hendrickson. Few dinosaur specimens are as impressive, and our team has had the privilege of studying the original fossils & CT scan data many times. As always, thanks go to the Field Museum for their support! 🦖

Pleased to announce that our second pass analysis of †Cryptovaranoides is out eLife - the journal! In it, we provide more evidence that this taxon is not a squamate, and challenge the referral of isolated bones to the hypodigm elifesciences.org/reviewed-prepr… #science #paleontology

1/ A few years in the making, but I can finally share my first PhD paper and my first ever first-authored whale paper. In it, we name a new species of toothed baleen whale: Janjucetus dullardi. You can find our conversation article here: tinyurl.com/dullardi

Happy #FossilFriday! Even the #tyrannosaurs, among the largest meat eating #dinosaurs ever, started life as little babies. This is the 3cm long dentay (partial lower jaw) of an embryonic tyrannosaur (#MOR268) from the #Cretaceous Two Medicine Formation of Montana.

Have you seen our latest paper in Journal of Anatomy? We trace the origin of air sacs in pterosaurs back to their Triassic forerunners. Using micro-CT on the pterosauromorph Venetoraptor, we show invasive air sacs were in place before true pterosaurs.

Excited to have this new #OA article out in Fossil Studies MDPI (doi.org/10.3390/fossil…), documenting the loss of cranial kinesis in phorusrhacid terror birds in connection with their remarkable hatchet-like feeding style. Dino Degrange ably led the project & we've got more on the way!
