#ICYMI our thread on a decade of the National Pupil Data giveaway — identifying and sensitive. When we say “identifying and sensitive” people sometimes don’t believe it. See #SEND, Learning Difficulties, Records for unborn children. #DataBill #DPDIBill #MyRecordsMyRights 🧵

“The selling point for their #SafetyTech was that by getting children used to it at school, staff would be teaching them how to accept #surveillance that employers will demand in the future workplace ...normalising this is very explicit in some companies.” computerweekly.com/feature/Are-we…

It's time for a break. Wishing everyone in and beyond the state education sector in England, a restful, reinvigorating summer holiday. Back in a month. (By when we expect to know more about what needed fixed in 2020 by DfE managing millions of our #records ⬇️). #DataProtection

Katherine Rundell on BBC Radio 4 Today would wave a magic wand to reverse the loss of school libraries. Only 1 in 7 primaries have one - only 1 in 4 in the most economically deprived areas. She adds they should be staffed by a librarian and assessed via Ofsted. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

We’ve a serious suggestion—government Departments should audit admin data stores, delete unnecessary history, retain statistics. And on process costs: DfE’s 23,000 schools census 3x a year, could be massively reduced alone, by sending only field changes, not duplicating records.

Whatever the #Alevels2025 exam results bring today, we believe everyone should be able to understand how their own grade was calculated. We call on Ofqual to work with exam boards and JCQ to give each candidate a written explainer #MyRecordsMyRights defenddigitalme.org/2021/12/04/res…
