It’s been a little while since I’ve been to Institute of Historical Research for seminars and what a great re-introduction tonight attending Hannes Kleineke’s paper on evidence about London book production from the late 15th to 16th centuries 📜

Maurice Bond was the Clerk of the Records from 1946 to 1981 and is pictured here with our rolled original Acts of Parliament in December 1961. The Victoria Repository was officially re-opened in July 1963, here is an invention for the grand opening of the new repository.

Summer trips planned to a range of libraries and archives where I have some research time available. Let me know if you're in need of (paid) research in Cumbria, Yorkshire, Essex, London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Hereford, Devon, Cornwall or the West Midlands. joesaundershistory.co.uk

Today we say a fond farewell to the Victoria Tower. As our collections move to The National Archives, it’s exciting to know they’ll reach a wider audience. Thanks for following us and look out for our new social channels focusing on the collections across the Palace. Updates soon!

Fantastic evening at the West Midlands Police Museum learning from Corinne Brazier about the history of policing in #Birmingham and the stories of those connected to the station - from staff to convicts - from the 1800s to 2016 when the station became a museum 🚔

It’s been a while but finally acquired a new reader’s card and spent some time this evening working on the book at British Library. Feels good to make a return to Humanities floor 1 😊

Happily #MedievalMonday this week coincides with a Bank Holiday in the UK AND tomorrow is #InternationalDogDay. With this in mind, we delved deep into the archives to find depictions of our faithful friends from way back when. #MedievalManuscripts #DogLovers #HistoricHounds.

Que pasa! Recent works on the Cathedral roof exposed the upper section of a gothic column! 🙌 The column would have formed part of the original 16th century church building ⛪️ #llanitohistorydoc #gibraltar #history #heritage #llanito #exploring #discovery

From a book of English legal statutes. This manuscript was copied in the 14th century and used by an English lawyer, possibly in Herefordshire. This page is for a Statute of Westminster. (WCL Q36 f32r)

Recording this episode with Khatra and Toki was such fun and I learnt so much from them. If you’re interested in how performance can be used to explore and tell the story of Black communities in #Southampton, have a listen ⬇️

A mid week treat for me seeing that my review of Robert Bartlett’s History in Flames has been published in Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland)’s journal 🥳 Really enjoyed reviewing this book and learning how #Medieval manuscripts and archives can be preserved/reconstructed following conflict
