Every now and then I get some feedback that highlights my progress and my world lights up. That’s the call to remember it’s all about the journey. The feedback is wonderful, but the forging ahead is THE thing. Just keep going!

Unpopular opinion: most apologies are BS. There aim is to relieve conflict, not to take ownership. Only apologize when you can take full responsibility for your part. Even better if you can be detached from their reaction.

The difference between kind and nice is extravagant. Nice can be inauthentic and it’s aim is often to be liked. It’s transactional. Kindness has no “aim.” It’s full of love and infinitely more powerful.

Structure sets your creativity free. Haiku poems are 3 lines and 17 syllables. Shakespeare had 5 acts in every play. Businesses are hierarchical. You don’t have to innovate on every detail. Pick your battles.

One thing I’ve been noticing when I meditate is that “shoulds” have a certain feeling to them. I don’t even have to think a “should” and I can feel its sentiment rising.

I see people quoting Memento Mori - "remember that you have to die" - as a way to take things less seriously. I take the exact opposite lesson from it: To lean in and love more. To cherish the present moment. Knowing that we will die, it's a gift that helps us enjoy the now.

I have a friend whose whole career was based on saying the obvious thing no one wanted to say. This person was promoted every year. CEO mentored and trusted them. When everyone is trying to play nice or cover their ass, telling the truth is a superpower.

One of my tests for a great book is “Do I think I could write this?” I’m reading Zen And The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and there is zero chance I could write this book. I haven’t even finished it yet and I know it’s a masterpiece.
