No longer "gainfully employed" so plenty of time for delving into the moth trap and getting out walking, birding and enjoying wildlife

So sad to see this wonderful tree being taken down today due to safety concerns but at least Chris consoled me with a couple of his Little Owls @HighAshFarm

Early in the season and already some confusing Acleris specimens to last night's trap. Thinking top left Acleris kochiella, top right A.schalleriana and bottom two a.ferrugana/notana. Would welcome second opinion UK Moth Identification

.Richard Bacon I've responded to Defra UK sandeel consultation to support a ban on industrial trawling for this important fish in English waters. Please lend your support and help save our globally threatened seabirds who rely on sandeels to survive. #SaveOurSeabirds

Been trying to put a name to these four agonopterix trapped in the last few days here in South Norfolk. Coming round to the conclusion they are all probably a.heracliana but would welcome a sanity check UK Moth Identification

Nice to get some flutter-by action yesterday - kicked off this year's local transect with a Peacock, the first Holly Blue of the year in the garden and then a Comma and several Brimstone, Peacock & Small Tortoiseshell sightings between Rockland and Claxton BC Norfolk

With growing concerns about alcohol abuse and anti-social behaviour there appears to be a worrying increase in the number of butteflies seen drinking in public BC Norfolk

Musotima nitidalis (aka Golden-brown Fern Moth or Fern China-mark) an unexpected addition to the garden list from last night's trap in Stoke Holy Cross. An adventive first seen in Norfolk in 2020 & apparently only one other South Norfolk record to date BC Norfolk Norfolk Moths (Jim Wheeler CMR)

Would welcome a view on this one from last night's trap. V.worn and nearest I can get is Cochylidia implicitana or potentially Falseuncaria ruficiliana but can't convince myself UK Moth Identification

Help on these two please- the nemapogon doesn't look quite right for Cork Moth, was thinking n.ruricolella but not convinced. Best suggestion I've had on the other is Ptycholoma lecheana (under scope there are some metallic golden scales and the hindwing is dark brown) UK Moth Identification

Can someone can tell me what has made this? Found several of these on Alders at Hellington Low Common Reserve last week in a wetland area adjacent to a beck. The leaf appears to have been cut across to the centre and rolled - I assume it's a pupae of something? @NorfolkNats

Return of the native? To be confirmed but looks like Nothris verbascella (Norfolk Snout) a moth last recorded at a single Norfolk site until 1971 then declared extinct in Britain but in our S.Norfolk garden trap this morning & given the amount of Hoary Mullein locally is it back?

Can you top finding an 'extinct' moth in the trap?? ... well I guess finding an adult near it's food plant and apparent signs of munching might just do it - I think the Norfolk Snout is back (assuming it ever if went away?)
