But when you have privilege, caring about the experience of someone who doesn’t is ALWAYS elective. So catalog the divides where you’re on the privileged side— race, gender identity, sexual orientation, class, disability, mental illness— and elect to care about those who aren’t.

This shouldn’t still have to be said - but here we are. Addressing colonization should be uncomfortable. Nothing about the ongoing genocide of Indigenous peoples should be comforting to anyone.
