πŸ¦‹ Scott was also joined by Sue Allen, from Cornwall Butterfly Conservation, who even did a bit of bug hunting herself. πŸ‘€Just look at all those bugs!Β Who can name any of the species?Β Β  🧡/2 #KernowWyls

Cornwall Butterfly Conservation ✏️ We also really like the drawing, completed by an attendee, of a ladybird larvae & the adult ladybird. Most of those who joined Scott had never seen ladybird larvae & were fascinated by how different they look to the adults. πŸ‘ It was great to see you all! 🧡/3 #KernowWyls

I last visited Wheal Uny for Cornwall Butterfly Conservation's Community Capacity Fund Mining Landscapes Project back in late spring to look for Dingy Skippers. I didn't find any Skippers, but noted at the time how fab the habitat looked for Grayling. A return visit today confirmed their presence!

We found this gorgeous elephant hawkmoth caterpillar on Penhale Dunes, Cornwall, recently. Just look at her huge eyespots ready to scare off predators, and how perfectly does her name fit when you add some ears? A caterpillar full of character.

We are delighted to have been working with Cornwall Butterfly Conservation to help safeguard habitat for butterflies in Area A5 of the cornishmining World Heritage Site. Pop along to their Conservation Day and find out more about the amazing work the group are doing across Cornwall.
