Our new CPS variety HY2161 is now registered as ‘UA Brynn’. With straw strength & height similar to Penhold; yield 114% of Penhold, 115% of Brandon, 106% of Faller + very good disease package, UA Brynn is a perfect replacement for Penhold, & some popular CNHR varieties! The name of our new CPS variety (HY2161) is quite appropriate for its characteristics. ‘Brynn’ is a Welsh word meaning ‘elevated places signifying strength & resilience’. In Irish ‘Brynn’ means champion. ‘UA Brynn’ - an easy choice for CPSR & CNHR growers starting 2026.

UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems has undoubtedly been the hub of stripe rust research in W Canada over the past 4 years. From race typing to screening thousands of wheat and barley cultivars, to exploring the rust genome.
