Young entomologists enjoying the #Friendshipgarden at lunchtime are always excited to find new creatures benefiting from the habitats created in their class plots. Each discovery is followed by conversations & questions. 💚🐜🕷️🪲🐝 #30DaysWild #WildlifeHeroes #EducationNaturePark

BAS hello, I found this spider on the beach at Port of Ness, Isle of Lewis. Is it one of the Tetragnatha? I’ve not got much experience of spiders up here

Although not a British Arachnological Society event, this might be of interest to our followers (19th-20th July). The national Spider Recording Scheme organiser, Richard Gallon will be there, giving an ID course and various spider walks. botanicgarden.wales/visit/whats-on…

Spiders are so interesting. Look underneath enough oak leaves & you'll find Paidiscura pallens. The Sputnik spider. No more than 1.5mm in size. Named after its pointy egg sac that resembles 'Sputnik' the first artificial Earth satellite launched by the Soviet Union in 1957.
