If you’re not doing this as standard practise, you’re not a responsible oil & gas producer. And in Canada it counts towards the oil and gas emissions cap. #cdnpoli 👇

Interesting thread on how China uses coal plants: at a 52% capacity factor; for firming VRE, not “baseload”; and for grid stability

And the ruthless pace of EV innovation, economies of scale, saturable demand and price cutting continues. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

A note to folks considering +++ 🇨🇦 LNG exports. I’ve been talking a lot to Australians, & they all mention regretting having built a large LNG export industry because so much gas is leaving the domestic price has risen, making their industry less competitive. Rents are also v low

I wrote about how we were finally helping fossil fuel-reliant communities build more resilient local economies. And now we're taking that support away. heatmap.news/ideas/trump-bu…

The evolution of Canada continues apace. I was struck by our monarch comfortably using a FN land recognition in the highest house of one of the most evolved yet improvable and hopefully improving democracies in the world. 🍁🇨🇦 ❤️ apple.news/Ae9lXGBegQX-c6…

One doesn’t understand Canada until one understands the monarchical pomp and circumstance provides public cover & institutional longevity for the dogfight that is real Westminster style Canadian democratic politics.

I'm somewhat shattered. This is an industrial decarbonization disaster of epic scale. Literally dozens of "first of a kinds" on the potential chopping block if they cannot find alternative funds.

Decarbonizing one of our largest sources of CO2 is a brilliant idea that limits life style changes for Americans (speeding green economy adoption). U.S. Department of Energy what a stupid set of project cancellations! Are you serious?

The future is a policy choice The decision to rescind bipartisan funding for 24 projects, including many carbon management facilities, is a decision against progress We have chosen not to compete, not to innovate and to allow the world to pass us by heatmap.news/energy/doe-can…

If the Amazon drys up & disappears its self regenerating rainfall and the support it gives to agriculture all along the east slope of the Andes would be a disaster for global agriculture.

Chris Bataille Case in point. In my day job, I had to prepare a forecast of energy consumption for a municipal transit fleet of 100 buses. Our current consumption is 2.3 M litres of diesel and should drop to 365,000 litres by 2035 with the buses on order.
